Reports say online education subject licenses will soon be issued

According to 21 Financial Report, recently, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education announced the “preparation for review” list of online subject-type out-of-school training institutions. As of December 1, 14 online education institutions, including companies such as Learn and Think, Homework Help, Penguin Tutoring, and Master Education, “intend to pass approval” and will obtain licenses for online subject training. Of the 14 institutions to obtain certification in Guangdong Province, there are 7 non-profit institutions that provide training in compulsory education subjects; 7, including Learn and Think, Homework Help, and Master Education, are for-profit institutions that provide high school subject training.

According to Guangdong Province's “Preparation for Review” work plan, online subject training institutions at the compulsory education level must register as non-profit institutions, while at the high school level, they can register as non-profit institutions or for-profit institutions.

The most notable ones on the public announcement list are learning and thinking, homework help, and leadership education. The first two companies are headquartered in Beijing, while the latter is headquartered in Shanghai. However, according to the principle of territorial administration, the business of the relevant operating entity in Guangdong Province is approved by Guangdong.
