Raphael Bostic hinted in an interview that the Fed may raise interest rates twice in 2022
The new variant of COVID-19, Omicron, has swept the world recently, casting a shadow over the global economic recovery, and it has also brought a huge impact to the financial market.
On November 28th, Raphael Bostic, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, made an assessment of Omicron's economic impact in an interview with Fox. He said:
"Each new variant will lead to a slowdown in the economy, but the slowdown is getting smaller and smaller. If the Omicron variant follows a similar trajectory to the Delta variant, then the economy will slow down, but the slowdown is It will not be as big as the surge period of Delta variant patients."
Combined with the recent record high inflation environment in the United States, in terms of monetary policy, Raphael Bostic believes that the Fed may raise interest rates twice in 2022 to deal with inflation. He said:
"If inflation continues to be higher than we expected, then a second action will be necessary. At the same time, we may need to act faster." $SPDR S&P 500 ETF(SPY.US$ $Bank of America(BAC.US$ $Goldman Sachs(GS.US$ $Pfizer(PFE.US$
