$Apple(AAPL.US$ I like the farm analogy on great businesses.
If you find a great business, buy the stock and hold for it for a long time. Because it takes time for the farm to become productive and for the harvest to make you rich year after year after year.
But investing in great companies is even better than a farm, because you don’t need to do any work. The CEO and the employees of the great company will do the planting and the harvesting for you. So just be lazy, sit back and relax. And watch them grow.
I have owned Apple since 2008 and I have made many X. I have never thought about selling the stock. Even when it seemed overvalued at times. Even when the market was tanking. On the contrary, after a great start with Apple, I have expanded my portfolio with similar types of great companies and I now own a fine collection.
And what I found in the process was that these stocks are going to make you rich over time. This is what they are meant for. So let them do their things beautifully while you enjoy a cool drink on a terrace facing the ocean.
