$Netflix(NFLX.US$ People don't like being told by a moralizing establishment what they may not hear or watch. And that is Netflix's opportunity.
This is what NFLX currently doing: preach its woke religion. Who watches "Dear White People"?
The NFLX shows that actually draw an audience are never the woke garbage the company throws up in subscribers' faces every day. It's shows like Stranger Things and Queen's Gambit. The author is 100% wrong if he believes that NFLX subscribers are eager for more contemporary social commentary. NFLX already squanders billions on that unwatchable crap each year.
Squid Game is popular, but not as social commentary. Let's get real. Here on planet earth, the poor have their debts forgiven and get to sign up for a universal basic income (refundable tax credits for being poor, refundable tax credits for having children, food stamps, Medicaid, housing subsidies, etc.), dispensing with the need to ever work again. For over a year in the USA, nobody had to pay their rent or mortgage if they simply checked a box labeled "Covid Hardship".
If there were a real Squid Game, only the mentally ill and suicidal would agree to play it. Sane poor people would sit back, relax, and watch the game on TV, while taxpayers covered their room and board.

Mooncity : No one takes those chances outside of Netflix. Art offends, good art offends even more. Netflix is the Art House. And yes, there is a bulk of woke material there as well, and yes there are plenty of high and mighty moralizing status pieces like "Dear White People" . But who cares? Don't like them, watch "Tiger King" or "Stranger Things," both of which no other streaming network would take a chance on.
Panda stack Mooncity: People like Stranger Things because it's a fun show with likable characters. There is zero social commentary in that series. What would it be? Monsters from other dimensions are bad and we shouldn't bring them into our world? Ok then.
dreamstocker Panda stack: Case in point: I have no interest in Squid Game but about the same time, NFLX launched Midnight Mass, which is my favorite thing from NFLX now. PS if you're complaining about the treatment of Christianity on streaming, ya might wanna avoid that one...
Sweety Reality Panda stack: If that were the case, they would have knee-capped Chappelle in a nanosecond.
alleybetwixt Mooncity: When I look for shows to watch on NFLX, every possible race, religion, gender, and sexual preference gets their own column of shows just for them. Except for heterosexual white Christians, of course. NFLX doesn't like them, even though they're probably the majority of NFLX's audience.

You're not seeing the trees for the forest. Every other streaming network either doesn't know how or is scared witless to stream anything that might make someone's tummy queasy on any issue today.
