From Consumer Reports

$Tesla(TSLA.US)$ As the largest EV maker, Tesla is particularly prone to reliability issues. The Tesla Model Y, the company’s most popular model, is one of the 10 least reliable vehicles of 2022, according to Consumer Reports, which chronicled problems with its body fit, paint, weatherstripping, rear hatchback and climate system.
Lincoln is the least reliable brand for 2022, according to Consumer Reports, which ranked Tesla second-to-last. Other brands near the bottom are Jeep, Genesis, Volkswagen and Mercedes.
The rankings show that brands with a more conservative approach to new features tend to sell the most reliable rides, says Jake Fisher, senior director of auto testing for Consumer Reports.
Such is the case with Lexus and Toyota.
Those brands “are always hanging out there at the top, and they do it in proven ways,” Fisher says. “They’re very methodical when they introduce new technology, and they don’t take chances.”
He acknowledges that “many accuse them of being boring because of that.”

  • Brandon Golden : Never mind reliability if your Tesla breaks down it's a nightmare, most actual repair facilities are going to be further away than a full charge and after waiting 13 weeks for the part you'll get there and the next day they'll report they need another part.
And a minor fender bender will be even worse.

  • Geminiasianboi Brandon Golden: Excellent observation. Am wondering if most Teslas are leased (on two to three year lease terms) rather than purchased because of the issues you have raised.

  • IT farmer Brandon Golden: I noticed the insurance premiums on Tesla 's are quite high. Especially for the Model S. And not only in the US, but also in other industrialized nations. I was understood that some Tesla buyers didn't think about this when purchasing a car

  • Marvan IT farmer: Can’t figure why insurance would be higher? Smaller car, can’t do more damage than other cars. Maybe it’s the repair costs and that not every repair facility can repair a Tesla.
