Stainless steel giant Aoyama will invest $375m to build a lithium plant in Argentina with France's Eramet to expand its presence in the battery supply chain. The Wenzhou-based company, the world's largest producer of stainless steel, will provide most of the money to build the plant, which will supply 24,000 tons of lithium a year for batteries. Christel Bories, CEO of Eramet, said: "We see this as an opportunity for Europe to gain access to key metals for the future energy transition."
