$TENCENT(00700.HK)$ Marko Papic, Clocktower Group's chief strategist, points out that Tencent has a head start over Meta through its huge franchise in online games. Millions of Chinese already act as "gaming partners", playing games with strangers for money or "gold", in which they receive virtual goods and exchange them for fiat currency. Papic argues that Mobile Internet platforms in China, and Tencent in particular, are already more innovative than companies in the US or anywhere else.
