The School of Hard Knocks

I think it's safe to say; Anyone who has a year or so in the markets has to at least know of the importance of these fundamental aspects of investing. Even if they don't have a strategy yet. Right? I'd like to wager the majority have 1 of 2 problems that I (ashamedly) confess I'm guilty of both; #1) Short&Sweet #LAZINESS! We can't fix what isn't broke my friends. Acknowledging the problem is the first step to recovery. I think? Hehe 😎✌️ No matter how "rookie" it may be. It's always been said to be essential in leveling up your investing skills BUT there is still #2... Hmmm.

#2.) After studying the futures and margin markets a while, I've learned that openly giving up your stop loss and take profit position might not always be a good idea! It was like giving the enemy your playbook!?*# I can't see how that is an effective tactic in those Markets at the very least. UNLESS It's being used as a decoy, a bluff or making a statement

After seeing Market Makers go through UNBELIEVABLE lengths to merck positions. At this point, even though I know options aren't built the same way; I'm still suspicious of the negative effects when considering the stop loss / take profit.

Normally in the stock/spot market, I began setting my stop loss's slightly lower in light of all of these things. And prefer to use a a trailing stop loss when In profits (I would usually prefer to take some profit before doing this). Raising my stop loss after new support has been established
