[Rewards Calling] I don't think many ppl are keen on sports, but there are so many fitness stocks!
I saw on moomoo that $Amazon(AMZN.US)$ is launching a service called Halo Fitness to rival offerings from $Peloton Interactive(PTON.US)$ and $Apple(AAPL.US)$.
Why is Amazon entering into the sector? Is it true that many people are really into sports? Will the business make good money?
I'm not sure but I can name a bunch of fitness-related stocks. For example, $Lululemon Athletica(LULU.US)$ , Peloton and traditional sports brands like $Nike(NKE.US)$ and $Under Armour-C(UA.US)$. Peloton stocks have dropped around 50% from their high, while Lululemon stocks seem to go higher and higher.
Why does these fitness-related companies perform differently? Have you bought any of them and did you make money?

  • 谷神巴菲特菲巴 : good

  • GJLGJL : more like stocks on lifestyle companies being pushed by technology stocks. sports/health tech, food tech and eco tech stocks are the nearest next big thing. agree?

  • Mike Hunt : There is a derivative of physical sports that is becoming a high growth sector with growing market capitalizations ….. SPORTS GAMBLING.  Gambling in and of itself has undeniable global appeal as you Chinese folks know very well. I have personally found that Asian cultures especially have an affinity for wagering.  In the US, gambling is considered a sporting activity (ex. poker on ESPN), but it is the subsector of sports gambling as a leisure activity that is especially hot right now.  From Pete Rose to horse racing, sports gambling has always been a part of American society but it is rapidly moving from the illegal sphere run by small time bookies to becoming much more accepted and mainstream in America.  Sports gambling is rapidly being legalized state by state.   Sports gambling makes you care about games you otherwise wouldn’t have.  Publicly traded Companies like $DraftKings (DKNG.US)$ $Penn Entertainment (PENN.US)$ specifically specialize in sports gambling and the sector is in an M&A period right now.  On the horizon are up and comers specializing in sports gambling like FanDuel that we may see in an IPO soon.  FanDuel has partnered with the extremely popular “Pat Mcafee Show” to offer daily “boosts” and special parlays.  Social media and sports gambling are merging with Barstool Sports partnership with Draft Kings being another example of the symbiosis occurring right now. It is important to make the distinction that these are SPORTS gambling outfits, a subsection of gambling tickers like

  • Mike Hunt Mike Hunt: $MGM Resorts International (MGM.US)$ $Caesars Entertainment (CZR.US)$ (although they have sports books in their casinos).  I realize this comment is a tangent from the sports topic suggested, but it’s one of my favorite areas to invest in.  Because after all, if you enjoy trading, you are a gambler.  I reject when people try to make a distinction between being an investor and being a gambler. I think those are just semantics. Investing is gambling and what gambling is comes down to pricing the outcomes of uncertain future events … Whether they be estimating the earnings to be reported by $JNJ or how many touchdown passes Tom Brady will throw in an NFL game. The sports gambling industry is a growth industry but rather than operating at losses, these companies can get profitable much more quickly then say Amazon did.  Growth stocks with a P/E.  That’s a dream.  Thank you for letting me share.  And whereas others will give the legal disclaimer not financial investing advice, if you look in my bio I’m very clear that all my posts are investing advice and go ahead and sue me.😝😝

  • GratefulPanda : Thanks for sharing undefined I can't quite see why Apple is going into fitness but I can see why Amazon is going into fitness though. Down the line, it probably means more new fitness enthusiasts shopping on Amazon and buying ever more new stuff from Amazon. Ka-ching undefined

  • nick199809 : good
