Happy Independence Day

  Happy Fourth of July everyone!
Happy Independence Day
Happy Independence Day
This will come in two parts, first the tickers and industries I expect to move during the summer and second a few useful tips for traders to maximize profitability over the coming weeks.

My top 5 tickers moving into the rest of the month are:

$Marin Software(MRIN.US)$ – TOP WATCH
$ALFI INC(ALF.US)$ – TOP WATCH
$Bitcoin(BTC.CC)$ – I mentioned on Friday loading the 33k channel. We survived the most massive correction we’ve seen to date and we’re moving into the summer with the rest of the market at ATHs.
$Microsoft(MSFT.US)$ – I assume you guys already know. If you’ve been with me awhile you’ll remember the swap from AAPL to MSFT in my long portfolio. I hate a lot of what Microsoft does, but I respect the aggression with which they do it.
AMC – The memes are no joke and they aren’t going anywhere. One of these days is their day.

I also recommend watching the NFTs. $Takung Art Co Ltd(TKAT.US)$ will probably move and then you can catch DLPN, $Oriental Culture(OCG.US)$ , etc.
Same goes for the Black Owned Businesses. If $Urban One(UONE.US)$ or CARV goes watch UONEK and whichever of the first two didn’t move first.

Tips to be more profitable this month:

1) REVIEW – this HAS to be step 1. If it isn’t then I’m not sure how you know what you’re looking for.

2) Run your scanner/screener. Moomoo offers an AMAZING screener. Save yourself time and set up your screener before the market opens. Here’s what to watch for when you set it up:

Market Capitalization
This is a measure of the size of a company. It can be calculated by multiplying the current share price by the shares outstanding. This is a no brainer, a small company can grow exponentially faster than a large one. Small companies can double or triple their sales in a year, larger companies simply don’t grow that fast.

I like to scan for companies under 300M AND scan for companies under 50M (Nano setting)

Price
This is simply to filter out stocks above or below a certain price. I generally scan for stocks less than $10 and also less than $5. Set this to whatever value fits your style of trading.

Beta
Beta is a measure of the volatility within a given ticker. That is to say it is a comparison of how much a given stock’s price moves as compared to the overall market.

Beta < 1 means the stock is LESS volatile than the market.
Beta = 1 means the stock moves WITH the market.

Beta > 1 means the stock is MORE volatile.

This means a stock with a beta of 1.5 is 50% more volatile than the overall market. This is about the sweet spot I like. Feel free to experiment, it's your trade after all! I use a higher beta because I want to find stocks that will really move, it doesn't do any good to trade a flat stock.

Note: the beta changes every day.

Debt/Equity
This one is pretty simple. The lower the debt to equity ratio the less debt and more cash a company has. Companies with lots of cash are run well and have an ADVANTAGE. Companies with a lot of cash can buy other companies, support R&D and anything else they want to do.

Volume
You can choose here between average and current volume. I like to filter by current volume, because I want to see where the money is! It does zero good to find a stock, find a good position and then find out nobody wants to buy when you’re ready to sell. I generally set the volume to greater than 400 or 500k. Average volume is also important, because you don’t want to get caught in a pump and dump. Some companies will hire promoters to bring volume influxes, so it is important to distinguish an opportunity from a scam.

Float
1.5 is 50% If you click on the “ownership” tab you can filter by float. I love low float penny stocks. Price reacts much faster when supply is restricted!

3) Time Frames
USE MULTIPLE TIME FRAMES TO VERIFY YOUR TRADES.
Once a trade is made, no matter how long the trade is intended to be held, the trader must monitor the move. This is best done on a higher level than where they normally trade. It is far easier to see moves more accurately with a longer perspective. The further out from the trading time frame the more apparent support and resistance levels become.
Since I primarily trade in the 5-minute time frame I use the 60-minute chart to monitor. When I am scalping in the 1-minute frame I will use the 10 or 30-minute frames to track the trade. Longer term traders may have to go all the way out to weekly charts to accurately judge the market.
With a better understanding of a stock's support levels traders can more precisely place their stop loss.

4) Use multiple indicators
Every technical indicator, no matter how fancy it might look, is visually expressing one of or a combination of four things:
Volume
Trend
Volatility
Momentum
Each one of these factors into a good set up and a good trade. Utilizing a combination of these four types of indicators will greatly increase your probability and your profitability.

5) Know your stocks.

After trading the same tickers a few times it is easy to “get to know” them. Support and resistance levels only exist because of repeated data. If you trade the same tickers often you can use your previous knowledge to your advantage. It is also advisable to track your core group intaday so you get a feel for when they are heavily traded. Everyone knows that one stock that pops at a certain time like clockwork. Get to know all your heavily traded tickers that way.

6) Set your alerts.
Happy Independence Day
Moomoo offers an amazing alert suite. You can set price alerts, 5 min change alerts, volume etc. Once you’ve reviewed you should be able to set these alerts to indicate a possible breakout.

Happy Independence Day everyone! Even if this holiday means nothing to you I genuinely hope you have a delightful July 4thy, 2021.
