Meme Stonks massacre of 2021
we are in unprecedented times
it seems the free market is not free after all
funds can manipulate the market but when the retails do, it’s a crime
and all major news - cnbc, ft, barrons and wsj are running interference for the ruling class
I knew this is a war retails won’t win, despite winning the initial battle with melvin and citadel.
i stayed out of all the meme stonks because i knew it would end badly and I’m also against chasing with the herd, with zero basis on fundamentals and momentum
on the flip side, this is goood. because these funds and tutes are so deep in their shorts that they were getting squeezed and were forced to sell equities across the board to protect their holdings. it is a concept called degrossing.
for example, if you are short snd suffer heavy losses, you panic sell your long positions where you are ahead to go liquid and undo the damage. same concept.
degrossing was on course to wrexking the whole market. imagine all equities plummeting like march 2020 selloff because funds are abandoning their positions to repivot to bonds and forex.
that would be very very very bad for us little people who buy low and sell high
so yes, it sucks for those holding meme stonks right now, but the whole equity market has been saved from an across the board selloff that was beginning - see the bloomberg news below
and i believe reddit wsb started turning their attention on silver and silver miners. that is what scared the bejesus out of all major institutions, including jp and goldman. because silver is the most most most heavily shorted metal. its an inflation hedge.
unprecedented times. next will be congressiobal hearings and more regulations. they will come down heavily on how retails buy options and use margin accounts. more fees might be on the way and 100% margin may become a requirement.
