On Saturday, Chinese EV startup Nio unveiled its first sedan, the ET7, a bigger volume battery pack that can improve driving range, an upgraded autopilot system and the second iteration of its battery-swap station, a concept whereby people can change the battery in their vehicle rather than re-charge it. Nio targets reaching 500 power swap stations by the end of 2021.

The Standard Edition of NIO's ET7 electric car, with a price tag of 448,000 yuan (US$69,184) before subsidy, has a driving range of 500 kilometres using a 70 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack. The ET7 is a big sedan, spanning 200.7 inches in length, making it about five inches longer than a Tesla Model S, its prime rival. Deliveries will start from the first quarter of 2022.
