Options strategies to consider during Earnings Season

Earnings season is coming again. Investors are eying the Q4 financial results, which may set the tone for the stock market in 2023. No one can say for sure whether there will be a "beat" or a big "miss" in the news title of a company's earnings announcement. After all, the movements of stock prices are usually unpredictable.
However, with the right options strategy, earnings season can be potentially profitable. For example, after a company unveils some game-changing policies or critical sales numbers, there might be a significant change in its stock price. In that case, "long strangle" could be a good strategy to consider.
Other options strategies, like a long straddle, long condor, and long iron butterfly, generally do well from large and volatile price swings, either to the upside or to the downside.
Whether you're aiming for more profit, lower risk, or a higher win rate, those types of strategies may come in handy in different scenarios.

Explained Simply: Options 103, ITM ATM & OTM; Risk, Reward and Strategy.

In this Options 103 for layman, we will discussed about the difference between In The Money (ITM), At The Money (ATM) and Out of The Money (OTM) options. We will also discuss about their risk reward profile, and finishing up with a general rule of thumb that I use when selecting a strike price when I'm trading options, where I would share some real examples where I had used the said strategies and give some reflection on the...

Wheel Option Strategy for beginners

Would you like to share some multi-leg options strategies you've been using?
I'm still learning how to invest in options and don't use any multi-leg options strategy. I summarised my experience below:
1. Sell covered puts/calls 🎡
I sell puts to earn premium and to acquire stocks that I liked at discount price when share price is falling (in bear market). Once I acquired the share (100 units) will sell covered call when the share price is increasing (in a bull m...

$Snap Inc(SNAP.US)$ Tik Tok ban, twitter profit sharing... blah blah it was far too oversold it was going to fill the gap and come up to 10.6, where it was before the earnings call. It wants to be at 12-16 range but may breathe first at the 50MA, although it has not been rocketing up meaning its staying calm and in a range rather than going overbought.
I took profits at the spike yesterday (the volatility was too good to pass up, selling my 9.5 calls that I bought at .62 for 1.16 and also sellin...

Beginner

Options trading sounds risky and complex for beginner investors, like myself.
I did some read-up to try to understand some basic strategies using options. It is recommended for beginners to use long calls, long puts, covered calls, protective puts, and straddles. Wonder, could anyone explain in more layman's terms? Or I am looking in the wrong direction.
