Oneironaut88 OP 106795187 : Not exactly. If you bought it before the record date, and held the stock through that day, you would be charged. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with when you bought it. It's whether you owned it on that day that counts. You obviously don't get charged if you bought it after the record date. That's why I added that tip about selling it the day before the record date and then buying it back the day after the record date. You wouldn't get charged for doing that either. It's essentially an inverted dividend.
