On June 13, U.S. equities tumbled on a black Monday, with S&P 500 hitting the lowest level since March 2021.

According to the commonly used definition, the benchmark S&P 500 index has fallen more than 20% from its most recent high in 2022 to confirm a bear market began. Now, we know the bear comes for sure.

The interest-rate hikes and the recession threat could be catalysts for entering the bear market territory. However, for inverstors, it's usually difficult to predict when the market will turn around between the bull and bear markets.
