💡Summary
The top five stocks in the index must not exceed 38.5% of the total weight.
No component outside the top five can exceed 4.4% weighting in the index.

A significant change may be coming for some of the tech sector's leading companies. Specifically, the Nasdaq 100 is set to adjust the weighting of its components, which total 100 companies. The weighing changes will be announced on Friday, July 14 2023 and will take effect on Monday, July 24 before markets open.

Shares of Apple, Microsoft and other heavy weight companies dipped on Monday after Nasdaq Inc said it would re-balance its Nasdaq 100 index to address the benchmark's "over concentration." Apple dropped 1.1%, leaving its market capitalization at $2.967 trillion. Wall Street's most valuable companies have been among the biggest winners in the U.S. stock market's recovery this year, further increasing their weight in the Nasdaq 100, and also in the Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500.
