1. Company account
Below is a checklist of documents required to open an account in a company name.
1.1 Company information
Please prepare the company’s ACN, plus either of the following:
• ABN, or
• TFN
A company may have one of these, but not neither. If both are unavailable, please contact your accountant to confirm your company has been set up correctly.
2. Director and shareholder information
Please provide the following for all directors and shareholders:
• Identification documents
• Residential address
• TFN
Accepted forms of identification:
• Passport
• Driver licence
• Medicare card
Notes:
• Electronic copies or photos are accepted. Original documents are not required.
• Where possible, provide two or more forms of identification per person to support verification.
• All identification must be current and valid. Expired documents are not accepted.
• If a shareholder is a trust, you must also provide the full set of documents outlined in the Trust checklist below.
Once ready, select “Open account” in the app or on the website and follow the prompts to submit your application.
2. SMSF account
Below is a checklist of documents required to open an SMSF account.
2.1 SMSF trust deed
Provide a complete electronic copy of the SMSF trust deed in PDF format.
2.2 SMSF ABN or TFN
Your SMSF must have at least one of the following:
• SMSF ABN, or
• SMSF TFN
An SMSF may have one of these, but not neither. If both are unavailable, please contact your accountant.
2.3 If the trustee is a company
Please prepare:
• Company ACN, plus either ABN or TFN
• Identification, residential address and TFN for all directors and shareholders
Accepted forms of identification:
• Passport
• Driver licence
• Medicare card
Notes:
• Electronic copies or photos are accepted.
• Provide two or more forms of identification where possible.
• All identification must be current and valid.
• If a shareholder is another trust, that trust must also provide the full set of required documents.
2.4 If the trustee is an individual
Please provide for all individual trustees:
• Identification
• TFN
• Residential address
2.5 Other parties named in the deed
Provide identification, address and TFN for the following parties, where applicable:
• Settlor (only required if the settlement sum exceeds AUD 10,000)
• Appointor(s)
• All members
Identification requirements are the same as above.
Once ready, select “Open account” in the app or on the website and follow the prompts.
3. Family or discretionary trust account
Below is a checklist of documents required to open a family or discretionary trust account.
3.1 Trust deed
Provide a complete, recently certified copy of the trust deed in PDF format.
• Certification must be completed within the last 6 months
• Include all pages, particularly the cover, schedule and execution pages
Certification requirements A certified document is a copy of an original document that has been verified as a true and accurate copy by an authorised person. The certifier must sight the original and sign and date the copy.
Authorised certifiers in Australia may include:
• Pharmacists
• Chartered accountants
• Medical practitioners
• Justices of the Peace (JP)
You are also required to post the certified copy of the trust deed (and any deed of variation or amendment, if applicable) within one month of account opening for record keeping.
