Common Issues with HIN

1.How do I find my HIN number?

1.1 Log in to the moomoo app.

1.2 Go to the Accounts tab > Tap a Specific Account > More > Account Profile.

1.3 You can find your HIN (Holder Identification Number) in the "CHESS Registration Information" section.

 

2.Am I currently using a CHESS-Sponsored account or a Custodian account?

If you only have one account, you can determine your account type by checking for the presence of a HIN number. To check for the presence of a HIN (Holder Identification Number), go to "Account" > "More" > "Account Profile."

If there is a HIN, then the account is CHESS-Sponsored; if there is no HIN, then it is a Custodian account.

 

When you have both types of accounts or multiple accounts, you can identify the account types by looking at the tags under the "Account" section.

 

3.Email-related issues

3.1 Can I switch from physical mail to electronic notifications?

Based on valuable feedback we've received, we are pleased to announce that certain CHESS notifications will offer an email delivery option starting from October 9, 2024.

This new option will decrease the volume of physical mail you receive from the ASX regarding your CHESS-sponsored holdings.

*Please note that any communications from share registries, such as changes to holdings, corporate action notifications, change of bank for dividend payment, and tax documents, depend on your agreements with each share registry. You can directly contact the respective share registry to update your preferred communication method.

3.2 How can I request the activation email from ASX?

If you need the registration link to be resent, please email the ASX Customer Service team at info@asx.com.au.

Please ensure you include your Holder Identification Number (HIN) and the email address associated with your account in your request.

3.3 Why am I receiving different statements?

You may receive different types of trade confirmation emails from moomoo, depending on your account and market activity:

1.Contract Note: If you have a CHESS-Sponsored account and trade on the Australian market, you will receive contract notes from Finclear (moomoo's CHESS-Sponsored partner) for each executed trade.

2.Statements: For all trades you placed through moomoo (including trades in the US, Hong Kong, and Australian markets), you will receive a daily statement sent from moomoo. This includes details of your holdings and trading data from the previous trading day.

Note: If you have used moomoo’s commission-free offer for trades on the Australian market, you might still see fees listed on the contract notes. For accurate fee information, please refer to your statement.

 

4.How do I receive dividends with a CHESS-Sponsored account?

  • Moomoo will create a segregated HSBC bank account for each client to receive cash dividends. No action is required from you.

  • Your cash dividends will be automatically credited to your moomoo account. You can choose to withdraw or reinvest them according to your preference.

 

5. Why did I receive a letter saying I changed the bank account?

We handle dividend payments on your behalf as your broker. For convenience, we provide a segregated bank account to Share Registries (such as Link Market Services or Computershare). It is standard practice in the industry for these registries to send a physical letter to confirm this arrangement. You do not need to take any action regarding this letter. However, if you wish to make any changes to your bank account details, please contact the Share Registry directly.

 

6.If I have two accounts (one custodian and one CHESS-Sponsored), how can I close one of them?

We offer two account types according to client preferences: custodian and CHESS-Sponsored. If you decide to close one of them, please follow these steps:

1.Ensure you have closed all positions within the account you wish to close.

2.Contact our customer service team or send an email to settlement@au.moomoo.com for assistance.
